How Call For Me works

Short answers for the beta: waiting on hold for you, transcribing your calls, the numbers to save, what it costs, and what to do when something goes wrong.

How Hold for Me works

We call the business, get through the phone menu and wait on hold — then ring you when a real person answers.

  1. In Calls, add the business as a contact (name and number) and tap its Call button. You have 3 seconds to cancel.
  2. The first time, choose the mobile we should ring you back on. It must be a number you've verified in Settings › Numbers.
  3. We dial and handle the menu. The card shows each key pressed and how long you've been on hold. Want to choose the options yourself? Set the contact's Menus to Suggest only.
  4. When a person answers, we ring your mobile from our callback number. Pick up and you're talking to them.
  5. After the call, the card shows notes and a short summary. They stay in your history until you delete them.

Good to know

  • Keep your phone on and not in Do Not Disturb. If iPhone's Silence Unknown Callers is on, save our callback number to your contacts (below) or you may miss us.
  • We only call Australian numbers, and never emergency lines — call 000 yourself.
  • You can hang up from the card at any time, or open More for Connect me, Hand back to AI and Call me again.

How to transcribe a call

You make or take the call on your own phone as usual, then add our transcription number into it as a conference call. Live captions, notes and a summary appear in Calls › Transcriptions.

Before your first call

  1. Settings › Numbers: verify your mobile with the code we text you.
  2. Settings › Transcription: switch transcription on for that number, choose the call language, and confirm you'll tell everyone on the call it's being transcribed.
  3. Save our transcription number to your contacts so it's one tap to add.

On an iPhone

  1. Making a call: call the business and wait until they answer. Receiving a call: answer it.
  2. Tap Add Call and dial our transcription number (the other person is put on hold for a moment).
  3. When our number answers, tap Merge Calls. Captions start in Calls.

On an Android phone

  1. Making a call: call the business and wait until they answer. Receiving a call: answer it.
  2. Tap Add call (on some phones it's under ⋮ More) and dial our transcription number.
  3. When our number answers, tap Merge (some phones say Conference). Captions start in Calls.

If it doesn't work

  • If Merge is greyed out, your plan may not support conference calls. Some prepaid plans and smaller providers (MVNOs) turn it off — ask your provider to enable conference or three-way calling.
  • Turn on VoLTE / 4G calling (iPhone: Settings › Mobile Service › Voice & Data; Android: Settings › Connections › Mobile networks). Without it, some networks can't hold two calls at once.
  • WhatsApp, FaceTime, Teams and other app calls can't be merged — only regular phone calls.
  • Dual SIM: make or take the call on the SIM whose number you verified. We only transcribe calls merged in from a verified number.
  • Caller ID must be on (not "No Caller ID" / private). That's how we know the merged call is yours.
  • Always tell everyone on the call that it's being transcribed.

Save our numbers to your contacts

Saving them means your phone shows "Call For Me" instead of an unknown number, and you won't silence or block us by mistake.

Billing basics

  • Everything is paid in credits. New accounts start with 60 credits.
  • Hold for Me: 1 credit per minute while we call and wait for you.
  • Transcription: up to 2 credits per minute while our number is merged into your call.
  • Partial minutes round up to a whole minute.
  • Your balance is in Settings › Account. A top-up adds 200 credits; plans add a monthly allowance.
  • Think you were charged wrongly? Use Report a problem on that call's card and choose "I was charged wrongly".

How to report a problem

  1. In Calls, open the call or transcription that went wrong.
  2. Tap Report a problem at the bottom of its card, choose what went wrong and, if you like, add a few words. Please don't include card numbers, PINs or passwords.
  3. Tap Send report. It reaches our team with the call attached, so we can look at exactly that call.
  • For anything else, or if you can't sign in, use the contact page.

Privacy and deleting your data

  • Your calls, transcripts, notes and summaries are kept in your history until you delete them.
  • To delete one: open its card in Calls, tap Delete, then Delete for good. Its transcript, notes and summary are removed and can't be recovered.
  • Only you can see your own calls. Our team only looks at a call when you report a problem with it or ask us to — except our own internal test accounts, never an ordinary user account, which our team may review to check call quality.
  • To delete your whole account and everything in it, send us a request from the contact page.
